Yesterday I posted a request for prayer on Facebook for my dad. He lives with my sister, Dee Anna, in AZ so the following information is from an update e-mail that she sent to all of our family and extended family members:
Right now he is waiting for open heart surgery. He went in Monday March 8th for an angiogram and they found that his main artery to his heart is 99.9999% blocked. Unfortunately he has had a very bad cough and they did a chest X-ray which revealed a mass on his left lung. This could be anything from Valley Fever, Tuberculosis or Cancer. Due to the possible positive nature of Tuberculosis, he has now been placed in isolation on top of everything else. They will be doing a biopsy tomorrow around 10am. Based on the results, the surgeon will decide when he will be performing the bi-pass on my Dad’s heart. The surgeon is extremely eager to do the bi-pass ASAP because of the amount of blockage. If the biopsy goes well the bi-pass will be Thursday morning, if the biopsy does not go well we will have to cross that bridge if we get there.
On top of it all, today is my dad's 65th birthday and his spirits are obviously very low. So I would LOVE to have all my cyber friends wish my dad a happy birthday in the comments below. I'm not sure if my sister can take her laptop into isolation but if not, we will print out all the comments so he can see them and hopefully it will help to lift his spirits! I appreciate your participation!
Hugs ~D~

Have a very Happy Birthday, Elmer. I know that God is with you and your family, and all will be fine. I had emergency open heart surgery 6 years ago. I know how you are feeling. I had my widow's maker blocked at 90% and three other's at 100%. I know you have this other problem as well, but I feel positive that it will be fine. You have your family, all your friends, your daughter Donna's friends and God with you. I will light a candle for you in church this week and pray for you.
