I have been really good about keeping this under wraps. As I mentioned in my earlier post, I really like digital scrapping but the end result is only going to be as good as the elements that you start with. When digi and hybrid scrapping started, there were some products that I tried that gave me a layout that looked like a digital layout, and that isn’t what I wanted. I wanted a layout that you would have to touch to tell if it was digital. Using physical embellishments on a layout that already looks 3-D helps the illusion even more so. And if you know my style, you know how crazy I am for layering. Doing a lot of the layers digitally helps to make my layouts actually fit into a page protector… lol.
As I said I’ve tried several different products and I have been really impressed with some but when I was introduced to ScrapHD, my mind was BLOWN!!! ScrapHD has an online builder that you use to create your layouts. What I loved about this builder is that you don’t have to download anything, you don’t have to pay for each embellishment you put on your page, and you don’t have to go searching through your hundreds of digi embellishment files looking for that one elusive element that you “know” you have… somewhere (but that last part could just be me… lol).
As a Design Team Member, I will have my paper lines and embellishments available to use in the builder plus they have asked me to create those hard to find embellishments and kits for them. From cheerleading and dance to unique holidays and sports, I will be creating fun and unique elements exclusively for ScrapHD.
When you go to their site you will see that they have 2 options for you. With a free account you can create, save and share your scrapbooks (when you are done you just click a button to share it on facebook… it RAWKS!!!), you can access thousands of designs created by the ScrapHD Design Team, you can purchase prints, hard bound books, cards, etc… made from your pages in several sizes (the quality of the finished scrapbook is flippin’ amazing).
As a Club member which is $9.99 a month or $99 a year, you get all of the above PLUS: access to thousands of premium designs from not just the Design Team but from some of your favorite Scrapbook Manufacturers (7gypsies, American Crafts, S.E.I., Jenni Bowlin, My Mind’s Eye, Karen Foster, KaiserCraft, etc…), a boatload of storage, You can print your creations from home, upload multiple pictures at once into the builder, organize your photos into folders, upload your own png and jpg files, and you get exclusive access to freebies and contests.
Something else that makes this super-fab is that your local scrapbook store will be able to host the builder on their website, so you can check out hybrid/digi scrapping without feeling guilty for not shopping at your local store. With ScrapHD you can do your midnight scrapping on your computer and should you decide to make a purchase, your store will be making money… while the owners are sleeping! So everyone wins!!!
What completely sold me was playing with the builder. It is faster and easier for me to make a digital layout on their builder than it is for me to create one on my computer using my own files. Their search box let’s you look up papers and embellishments by key words (i.e. Pink, friend, boy, birthday, etc…) They also have themes that are already designed for you so all you have to do is drop in a photo and add your own journaling (themes I've made below... these pictures aren't very good quality because they are just screen shots)
The site will be launched right before CHA (I’ll post when you can access the site). I highly suggest you set up a free account and check out the builder for yourself. www.scraphd.com
Thanks for stopping by! Hugs ~D~

Looks like a great site, they seem to cover it all. Maybe this will make me finally take the plunge into digital. I do hybrid now, but I hardly ever do all digi.

This is so cool I won a 1 year membership from HD.
I did not know about being able to put the information on the store site. I need to find out more about that.

Deanna, you were actually all the way right... I edited the post to say that my papers and embellishments will be available to use in the builder. ;)

so - I was partially right - it DOES have something to do with digi scrappin' :-) YAY. I will go check it out. How is it better for people who already use Photoshop & Illustrator (or even Photoshop Elements)???
