Wall Hanging by ~ Helena Johansson

Hi everybody! Today I have a little Wall Hanging project to share. I have created this using a corrugated card from Want2Scrap and Donna Salazar, and the Mix'd Media Stax 2 from GCD Studios and Donna's. I had so much fun creating this project and I'm gonna show you how I did the background further down.

The Mix'd Media Stax contains several kinds of paper - each very different but they are all fun to work with! I have made the butterflies using the printed paper and Spellbinders Wonderful Wings dies. Then I painted the butterflies using Mix'd Media Inx, colors Chiffon and Pewter.

The little swirls are from Want2Scrap and Donna's and I painted them white and then inked the edges using Mix'd Media Inx, color Chiffon.

And here's a little tutorial on how I did the background of my project. I have used corrugated card as a base and then mulberry paper, printed paper and a thin paper from the Mix'd Media Stax 2. I also found a napkin in my stash that had pretty images on it. I ripped a couple of pieces from that and also ripped pieces of the mulberry paper and the printed paper. The thinner paper I kept as it is, and I have used two sheets of this one, you will see why later.

My first step was to cover the corrugated card with the thin paper. I have used Fast Finish Decoupage to seal the paper to the corrugated card. When dried the effect is pretty cool!

Then I sealed my pieces of paper and napkin images.

When dried, I painted with some white gesso to soften the edges a bit. Don't worry if the corrugated card bends a bit, when everything is finished you can just bend it the other way and it will get straighter.

When the gesso had dried I took another sheet of the thin paper sheets and sealed it with Fast Finish Decoupage.

When the Decoupage had dried a bit, but not entirely, I ripped the thin paper apart in the middle and took some pieces away and rolled the edges a bit.

Here's a close up of how I ripped and rolled the thin paper. When the decoupage dries completely it's hard as a rock, but before that you can play with it :)

Hi Everyone!! Mandy here and it's my turn again!! This time I am posting a layout that I did of my grandbaby!! I ADORE him!!  Also, I'm on a stitching kick again and I used a whole deal of tan colored floss for this layout!!  I love the look of it, but I'm not always up for the time involved to do it, especially sitting at my craft desk.  So this time I prepped what I wanted to stitch and sat in the living room with my hubby and watched a movie!!

 Just a quick THANK YOU to Donna!! She made this GORGEOUS flower pin for me and I think it went perfectly on this page!!

Hiya, How is everybody going?? I got to play with Donna's new stencils this month! Love this brick one and how well it coordinates with the brick stamp.

My good friend Deb Kingston took this photo of me while on was down in Melbourne visiting her. This was taken down one of the many graffiti alley ways.

 I have used a Structure paste by Rico Designs to create the bricks with the stencils and then spritzed them with the caramel latte and wood stain smooch spritz. Then I spritzed with some water to blend it a bit.

I used the brick stencil and brick stamp to create texture and dimension.

Hi lovelies!  Today I have a layout using Donna's gorgeous papers from her Natural Beauty line.  This one was the sketch and colour challenge a few of us have been playing with.

This time instead of plain cardstock I have made some flowers using layers of the printed paper and her deliciousness new mulberry papers from her Stax2.  The mulberry paper works beautifully when diecut and then wet.  It softens the card weight paper and holds beautiful shape once dried.

I've created a polka dot ruffle with some crotchet lace and denim trim...

Another close up of the flower... I used the Rose Creations die for this one.

I also used the Shadow Flowers die to add some interest to the cluster on the left.  I used the Mulberry Paper and added some smooch spritz by brush to the edges... the mulberry paper 'sucked' up the colours and created such a fabulous effect.

'Weird' Canvas by ~ Natasha Naranjo Aguirre

Hi friends!  This is a canvas I made using loads of product by Donna Salazar!
The background is made up of muslin and randomly placed chipboard alphas.  (I got the idea for the alphas from Mistra.)  The background was covered with gesso and spritzed with three different colors of Smooch Spritz.  I used Donna's 'All My Love' and 'Swirls' stamps to decorate some of the alphas.
 The larger flowers were handmade using Rose Creations dies by Spellbinders.
 The smaller flowers were made from Bitty Blossoms dies.  The white flower die-cut was cut from mulberry paper from Donna's Mix'd Media Stax 2.  Love the texture of this paper!  The Stax also has printed 'dictionary' paper, white labels and crepe paper.

 This quote by Robert Fulghum is a little 'weird' but so very true!

I am so excited to show you my very first layout made for Donna Salazar!

I have used the paper collection called Natural Beauty - and beautiful it is, just look at the soft pink and gray colors. I am in love! And the minute I saw the amazing chipboard birdcage, I knew I had to use it right away. I have painted it with gesso and some texture paste, to get a rougher look.

I have used Clearsnap Mix'd Media Inx, colors Pewter and Chiffon, to chalk the edges of my papers. I have painted the pink paper (called Wall Vines) with gesso to soften it a bit, then I used one of Donna's and Want2Scrap's stencils, brick, with texture paste. Love the effect!

The cute little banner is made from Die cuts from the Natural Beauty collection.

The alpha from Natural Beauty is already a fav of mine! 

Some of the flowers on this page I made myself using a Spellbinder die - Rose Creations. I have sprinkled som Fairydust glitter on them. I am fairly new when it comes to making my own flowers, but I am learning and will make many more using these gorgeous dies! Tucked into my flowercluster I have used another Spellbinder die - Shadow Flowers.

The bling is from Donna's and Want2Scrap, called Build Your Own Bling - just perfect for flowerclusters!

Hi friends!  This is a layout I made of my daughter using the gorgeous Natural Beauty collection by Donna Salazar.  LOVE this collection!

I love layers... as you probably have noticed LOL.  Behind my photo there are layers of die cut paper, torn 'dictionary' paper and die cut flowers from Donna's Mix'd Media Stax 2. The background paper was altered with paint and Donna's All My Love stamp.

These handmade flowers were made using Bitty Blossoms and Rose Creations dies by Spellbinders.

I adorned the edges of the paper with Donna's Swirls stamp and Jasmine embossing powder.

All of the stitching on this layout was done by hand.  The bling is Donna's B.Y.O.B (Build Your Own Bling).

These are one of my favorite chipboard alphas!  They come printed and have adhesive backs.  They are also easy to alter with ink or paint.  (You can purchase these alphas HERE.)

Hi Friends!! It's Mandy again!!  I would like to show you a little technique I picked up a long time ago!!  I will show you how to do the torn circle with the brown bricks as shown in this layout below.  I love this photo.  I took this last summer of my daughter and two of her little friends.  They were checking out some sort of little creature in a creek.

For this tutorial you will need:

 

1) The Mix'd Media Stax 2 (Thicker Soft Cream Paper)

2) Mix'd Media Inx CHOX in Sparrow

3) Q-Tip (Paint Brush Works Too)

4) Want 2 Scrap Brick Stencil

5) Clearsnap Color Box Blending Tool

6) Pencil (not pictured)

 Use a pencil to trace a 6 inch circle (I used a pen so you could see better, but don't use a pen, because it will show through to the other side)

 Take the Q-Tip and dip it in water to saturate the line all the way around.  Does not have to be perfect.

 

Use your fingers to begin to pull apart the paper along the line.  Again this does not have to be perfect, but just go along the line as best as you can.  It actually tears really easy.

You will have a sort of furry edge to the circle.  

Lay your stencil down onto the circle and use your blender tool to repeatedly go over the area you want stenciled.  The more you add the darker it will get.
