Givin' You Those Puppy Dog Eyes by ~ Mistra Hoolahan

Hi everyone!  Today I have a layout I have created for my team-mate Lisa, of her gorgeous pooch... look at those puppy dog eyes!

I have used some of Donna's Botanique papers, the blue grey tones were a lovely match for the creamy brown tones of the photo.  I have also used some of Donna's new HandDrawn Swirls from Want2Scrap... and I stamped, again!  

I made a beige toned flower from cardstock using Donna's Rose Creations Die by Spellbinders and have used some vintage toned brown, blue and green flowers to add smaller accents.

I found this little button in  my stash and the colour was just right, it was only afterwards that I realised it looks a little like a ball, nice fluke for layout about a dog!   The little butterfly is a metal one I picked up at Michael's when I was in the US.  I've painted it white and then added Glue Gloss and Fairy Dust Glitter so it sparkles.

I painted, stamped and embossed the hand-drawn swirls chipboard to match.  There is a mini tutorial on how I've done this at the end of this post.

I fussy cut one of the branches from the Botanique paper, inked the edges with Denim and then Jasmine Mix'd Media Inx and raised it slightly from the layout using small 3D Foam Squares.   I've tied a small tag to the branch so Lisa can add the date and name in her own writing.

 Lined Swirls Tutorial

I have used Donna's Dear Sir Stamp from Art Gone Wild to create 'lines' on the swirls to mimic the striped paper used on the layout.

You will need:

Want2Scrap Chipboard HandDrawn Swirls

White Paint

Denim and Indigo Mix'd Media Inx

Honey Mix'd Media Embossing

Dear Sir Stamp

Water Spritzer and Heat Gun

Paint the chipboard white, just a light coat is all that is needed.

Arrange so that the swirls are how you would like the 'lines' to follow.

 

Stamp with the Denim MMI onto the chipboard.

Spritz lightly with water and allow the colour to bleed slightly, dry off with a heat gun.

Stamp again using the Indigo MMI.

While the ink is still wet {you have loads of time, MMI is great like that}, randomly sprinkle some Honey embossing powder.  You don't want to cover all the ink, just patches.

Emboss with a heat gun and you have created some swirls that have distressed 'lines' on them!

Just a quick little technique that could be used with any stamps and chippy, I love the contrast it gives with the water washed background and embossed areas.

Hello there! Today I am gonna show you how to create a background on a background paper. I was inspired by the colors and the script at the background. 

Hence, I decided to use the music script stamp called 'Stanza' and stamped in the middle part of the background paper. 

After that, I did some droplets by removing the nozzle from the spritz bottle. 

I used the same color for the droplets and did masking on the doily. 

Here's how it will looked like. The background has yellow tint to it and I decided to spritz lightly with yellow color. Isn't it awesome?

Here I will show you how I assemble my background by using corrugated squares, a lace and also a darker blue paper. 

After you are happy with the arrangements, you can place your photos.

The Big Cheese by ~ Donna

If you've been following my blog then you've heard us all talking about the layouts that my DT members are doing for each other. Some of the team members wanted us to do layouts of ourselves instead of sending us pictures to scrapbook (Tasha started it cuz she doesn't like taking pictures of herself... the snot! LOL). She and I have a very fun and lighthearted relationship. She is always calling me boss lady... cuz she knows is bugs me... so my layout for her is poking fun at the title she has given me (it isn't cuz I'm full of myself... LOL). I gave you a sneak peek a couple days ago but here is the full layout again:

Creating the drippy background is super easy with Smooch Spritz and the manilla paper in the Mix'd Media Stax!

And here are the close ups:

I inked, spritzed, stamped and embossed the chipboard swirls from Want2Scrap. You can die cut the center of the polaroid frame with a nesting squares die from Spellbinders.

I distressed inked and outlined the chipboard alphas for a girlie grunge title. The word "cheese" was letterpressed with one of my dies from the Snapshot set.

I did a lot of distressing on the edges using my Distrezz-it-All from Zutter.

Hi everyone!  I'm back with another layout that I made for one of my Donna Salazar Designs team members.  Each of us are making a layout for one another.  This one is for Mistra... she requested that I scrap a photo of myself with a quote... so I did!  Heehee.  I can be a giant goofball, and Mistra knows this very well.  She always humors me by playing along with my weirdness LOL.

 These hand-made flowers are my Romantique Roses.  You can find the tutorial HERE.  The Rose Creations dies that I used for these flowers can be purchased from my store.

This layout is based on a sketch by Lydell Quin.  Love her designs!  Her sketch included little circles like these.  I simply added stitches through them.  

The background paper is watercolor paper from Donna's Mix'd Media Stax.  I spritzed it with Smooch Spritz in Pralines & Cream and Cashmere.

Aren't these corrugated swirls awesome?!  These are Donna's hand drawn swirls by Want2Scrap.  I brushed a thin layer of white paint on them and inked the ripples with Truffle Mix'd Media Inx.

I used several of Donna's stamps to decorate the background.  This one is the Ledger stamp.  All of the stamped images were embossed with white embossing powder.

Behind the Barcodes, I stamped with Donna's Chicken Wire stamp.  

Along the top and bottom, I used Donna's Bubble Wrap stamp. So much easier than using actual bubble wrap!

Happy Birthday Natasha by ~ Donna

As most of you know, Tasha is my Design Team Coordinator. She is the BESTEST DT Coordinator EVAH! Her complete title is BDS, DTC, BUB... which stands for Bomb Diggity Shiz, Design Team Coordinator, and Back Up Brain. Seriously... without her, there wouldn't be contests, challenges and giveaways so all of our cyber peeps wouldn't get as many prizes! She helps with a lot of the technical stuff (cuz she is just smarter than me that way), she helps make Tuesday Tutorials run more smoothly and she totally runs the Ning site. I could go on and on about all the stuff that she does but the most important thing is that she and I are like 2 peas in a pod. I've never been able to work with someone as effortlessly as I do with her and on top of it all... she is amazingly talented and one of my best fwiends. (insert "awwwwwww" here... LOL!)

I kinda value this gal a whole lot. I wanted to make sure that we made a big deal about celebrating the day of her birth so she feels as SPECIAL as she really is (and I'm not even gonna make a snotty comment about special Ed... LOL). Anyway, I decided to send her lots of randomness... cuz that's just how I roll. Below is the picture of her presents that I posted on Facebook:

This is a journal with really funny quotes inside that is supposed to be for writing in when you are struggling with insomnia (which she does). Most really creative minds can't turn themselves off at night. ;)

This is her birthday card. I actually made the center portion during Tuesday Tutorials. You can see the recorded video HERE. A close up pic is below:

I also got her some business cards and a shiny business card holder (notice the title... LOL!)

I've gotten her addicted to gemstones and she really likes Onyx, so I got her a swirly ring and a pendant.

I also MADE her this necklace that has Onyx and LOTSA other schtuff.

It has one of my Spellbinder dies inside the glass vial... the one that say LMAO.

I also made her this layout... but it is for the circle scrapbook. I'll do the post with close ups for this in a couple days.

She is always calling me boss lady because she knows it makes me uncomfortable... So I decided to make a silly layout of it cuz I knew she would get a kick out of it. It says "The BIG Cheese" in more ways than one. Then in the top left corner is says "jefe, boss lady, honcho" and on the bottom right it says "dweeby, flashy, showy". The journaling reads, "A lot more DWEEB than boss... but that's how I roll!!!

The Best-est Design Team! by ~ Donna

I absolutely adore my Design Team! These gals are all so talented and they put so much work into their projects. They honestly blow me away with the things that they create sometimes. So... I decided to make a little "thank you" gift for each of them... just cuz. :)

So I made a little pin from these crocheted flower pins from Michaels and paper flowers that I made with my flower dies from Spellbinders.

Get Well Soon Card by ~ Lisa Blastick

Hello again! Its Lisa back with a new card with tutorial! 

I have had some family members not feeling so well lately and that was my inspiration for today. 

When Im sick I think of chicken soups and those are the colors for today with a bit of country twist. 

Using Donna's NEW "chicken wire" stamp it feels like chicken soup is close. LOL

I really like shabby chic and vintage items so this card is a bit of both:)

Here you can see it is a bit 3D as I like most of my cards.

Just love those bitty blossoms and those amazing new chippies by Donna!

So here is how I made this card: Bare with me if some sounds very basic :)

First, take a 12 x12 white cardstock and cut at 5 inches.

Save the rest...Im a big saver anyways....How about you?

Score at 6 inches and fold in half. This is your base and the base of several cards that I make. 

Next using the "Chicken Wire" stamp, stamp right in the middle using "Black Mix'd Media Inx" 

and "Black Embossing Powder". 

Next with the leftover pieces of white cardstock, cut another 5 x 6 piece of paper.

Measure 1 inch inwards and cut out the center. 

Cut the corners at an angle and emboss with a diecut, I used 

Spellbinders "Parisian Accents" But you can use whatever you have on hand. 

Place a piece of ribbon on the bottom just barely under the frame and glue all the frame pieces down. 

If you like you can add pop dots instead. Be sure to curl up the inside edges a bit.

Next make 3 yellow flowers using "bitty blossoms" and " GCD botanique papers"

I also cut in the matching yellow paper "lacey circles" and a 1. 5 inch white circle. 

Stamp the white circle with "chicken wire" and emboss.

Here are some of the extra supplies and once again that fabulous chippie from Donna!

For my title strips, I used Microsoft Word for Mac and I added tiny dots using a black marker. 

Well that is it girlies! 

It takes about an hour to make but Im sure it will make your loved one feel much better :)

Want 2 Scrap-Hand Drawn Swirls-Corrugated

"Do What You Can" Wall Hanging by ~ Mistra Hoolahan

Hi everyone!  Today I have another wall hanging to share with you.  I am loving creating these lately... pretty things to hang on the wall.  Hubby isn't too excited a boutme asking for more holes to be drilled though LOL!!

I stamped on this one and used Donna's new Free as a Bird Stamp.  {I know, I'm so brave}, well actually I stamped first onto some watercolour paper from the Mix'd Media Stax and embossed it with Jasmine Mix'd Media Embossing.  It was then glued to the Corrugated Board and the background added around it, so it had a seamless look.

I have used some Golden Fibre Paste over the Corrugated Card to create my 'worn' background, and while wet sprayed it with my favourite SmoochSpritz colour combination; Ice Rink, River Mossy and Caramel Latte.  The Ice Rink adds a gorgeous cool silvery shimmer, River Mossy that fabulous deep teal and the Caramel Latte the fabulous warm contrast needed to give it some life!

Donna's Designer Embellie's Chipboard Swirls from Want2Scrap add interest to the flower clusters.  They were painted white and then spritzed with River Mossy & Caramel Latte SmoochSpritz so they blended with the background.  I also overlayed some of Donna's BYOB also from Want2Scrap, they work beautifully together.

The large flowers were made using Donna's Rose Creations & Grand Peony Die Sets from Spellbinders, and also some smaller ones were created from Donna's Bitty Blossom Die.

I've added some lace and silver trims, some satin and paper roses and finished it off with a quote that called to me, something I have learned this year and reminds me that I have 'enough', and that's all we need.

I hope you are inspired with this, it's hanging in my scrap room making me happy {because Natasha hasn't stolen this one from me... yet} LOL.

Together Always by ~ Jessy Christopher

Since I got pregnant, I am very into clean-simple-mixed media kinda style. I am sure it has to do with the hormones. Lol. So I am back again to share with you a layout I created using the fabulous mixed-media products by Donna Salazar. 

This layout is pretty simple to put together. For the background, I started of with masking. A lil random stamping & finally using the smooch spritz to add the drips effect. To create the drips, I opened up the bottle, removed the nozzle and just poured them over at the edge. Just go slow with it so you can have a better control. Easy-peasy rite? 

For the paper layering, I created a mono-tone color by choosing all the white and stripes papers that Donna has in her collections. I just love how they looked.
