I'm going to be a guest curator for Jenny Doh at www.crescendoh.com. Every day for a week there will be links to 2 artists who inspire me on the Crescendoh site. I get to share my "Art Saves" story on the site as well so if you want to read all about it you can check it out on January 2nd.
I created an "Art Saves" project just cuz... see pics below:
btw... there may be a sneak peek of a new product somewhere on this project... hmmmm... what could it be?
I started this project by cutting the Zutter Corrugated Board to frame the Zutter Canvas Board. I punched two holes in the top of the cardboard on both the right and the left where the holes would be covered by the canvas board. I thread string from the back to the front and back again on each side then tied the ends in a knot to create a sturdy hanging string. I distressed the cardboard with the Distrezz-it-All then dry brushed white acrylic paint onto the edges.
I used a Crop-a-dile to punch two holes on the top right and two holes on the bottom left side of the canvas board. I used the holes as a guide to punch holes in the cardboard as well. I tied the canvas board to the cardboard by threading the string through both from the back to the front and back again then tied the ends together.
I created the denim ruffle by gathering denim strips onto a piece of Crafty Power Tape. The letters were inked with Jasmine Mix'd Media Inx and embossed with Jasmine and Denim Mix'd Media Inx powders. I was able to get the Denim Embossing powder on the edges using my new Emboss Gloss. The heart was hand cut from zutter cardboard, distressed with the Distrezz-it-All and decoupaged with The Crafty Chronicle and Fast Finish Decoupage mixed with the Jasmine Mix'd Media Inx refill. I glued the tulle to the back of the heart and lightly inked the edges with Chiffon Mix'd Media Inx.
To make the background on the Canvas Board,I decoupaged The Crafty Chronicle onto it very loosely with multiple chunky layers (over the strings too). I ripped some off, added more, etc... until it was the right chunkiness then painted over it with white acrylic paint. I added a drop of the Mix'd Media Inx refills randomly around the edges in Honey, Peridot and Jasmine (one color at a time) and mixed each color with Fast Finish Decoupage and a paintbrush (just dribbled over the canvas). As I was blending I also covered the cardboard background. I added a tiny bit of Chiffon Mix'd Media Inx refills mixed with Fast Finish Decoupage to the center of the Canvas in the shape of the heart.
While the background was wet I spritzed River Mossy, Mixed Berries and Caramel Latte Smooch Spritz in random areas on the canvas board and added just a touch of water where I really wanted it to drip. Once it dried I added a bead of Fabri-Tac all around the Canvas Board edges and tucked some cotton lace between the Canvas and the Cardboard.
I cut a quote from The Crafty Chronicle and inked the edges with Denim and Leather Mix'd Media Inx.
I glittered the sticky side of 2 Kraft Labels (that were die cut with my Shadow Flowers die) with Fairydust Glitter in Pralines & Cream. I inked the small label die from Creative Book Pages Two with Jasmine Mix'd Media Inx then die cut and embossed a scrap of Artistic Paper. I removed the paper from the die and heat embossed with Jasmine Mix'd Media Inx Embossing Powder then spritzed with River Mossy Smooch Spritz. All that was left was to adhere the rest of the embellishments.
Thanks for stopping by!

Hello friends! I'm one lucky "Grungie Girl" today because I get to be her Guest Designer for Donna Salazar Designs! I got to work with her "Antiquities" Line and there is so much Grungy goodness packed inside these paper packs. On my "Grungie Girl" Dress Form and Hi-Top Sneakers, I've used the 12"x12" Antiquities Paper Pad, Green Smooch Spritz, Mixed Media Inx (Peridot), Fairy Dust Glitter and Emboss Gloss. Ribbon Adhesive and Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks by Glue Arts. Ribbons are Really Reasonable Ribbon.
Here's how I started:

"Its the Most... Wonderful Time.... of the Year".... okay, enough singing... :)
Its me Kim and I am here to share some projects I made for Christmas.
I created these two cute little ornaments with some of Donna's fun new Embossing powders. They match the colors of her Mix'd Media Inx... so there are so many fun techniques to try!
Today, I am sharing these ornaments that I created . They are easy to make and adding the touches of embossing gives them some dimension and texture.
The Santa ornament was made with a piece of Nestaboard (die cut chipboard) from Want2Scrap. I used Mix'd Media Inx in Jasmine. I added the Inx directly from the pad to the surface as shown below... I applied two coats, allowing the Inx to dry in between.
Once the Nestaboard was completely covered with ink and dry, I layered a favorite vintage image right over it. You can use a sheer transparent accent like I did or print one of your favorite vintage clip art graphics onto transparency.
I punched a hole through the top then tied a bow and some twine to create a hanging ornament.
To create the next ornament, I embossed an image from one of my favorite pattern papers.
I really wanted it to pop so I used Donna's new Emboss Gloss from Clearsnap which has a narrow wand that allows you to literally hand paint with the embossing gel.
I added Jasmine Mix'd Media Inx Embossing powder to the Emboss Gloss.
Then I heat set with a heat gun.
The unique thing about the Emboss Gloss is that you can go back over small sections you may have missed or go over the entire image again for a thicker coat. You can also draw images free hand with the wand and get a completely unique image !
Once the image was dried, I cut the paper to create a border and adhered it around an empty ribbon spool. I then punched two small holes along the top to add twine to hang it with.
While taking a break, I noticed one cute (but naughty) puppy trying to do her own form of "distressing" a piece of chipboard... ;)
Who me?
Okay, back to crafts.... Next up , I added a small paper image to the inside of the spool. I used the embossing powder to add "snow" to a few areas in the image to make it fun.
I then cut one of my favorite quotes from the Crafty Chronicle and added it around the spool.
Then I added a lace bow and a border punched from cardstock to the front of the spool.
