Hello again!
Natasha here to share a Spring card with you made with the gorgeous
Spring in Bloom Collection by
Donna Salazar. I have to admit... I'm not much of a card girl; I mostly create layouts. But after seeing
Audrey's card, I was inspired to create one. (Thanks
Audrey!) This is my second attempt ever at making a card. I hope you all like it!
Let me show you how I created this easel card. I learned how to make it by browsing tutorials on the web, but I changed the dimensions of my own card.
Supplies needed:
* Scoring Board (or a ruler and a stylus)
* 6"x12" sheet of cardstock
* 6"x6" sheet of cardstock
* Adhesive
STEP 1: Place the 6"x12" sheet of cardstock on the scoring board and score at the 6-inch mark and the 9-inch mark.
STEP 2: Fold the cardstock as shown above. Flip the card over so that the largest section is facing down.
STEP 3: Take the 6"x6" sheet and adhere to the section shown above.
This is what your card will look like from the front.
Here is a side view of the easel card.
STEP 4: Adhere
Spring Sky paper to the cardstock and voilà! Your card is ready to be decorated!
First I cut out this corner cluster of flowers from Donna's '
One Sheet Wonderful' paper and adhered it to the upper corner of my card.
I added a cluster of mulberry and chipboard flowers in the other corner as well as some shiny, blingy leaves. :o) The lavender chipboard flowers were misted with Mixed Berries
Smooch Spritz and highlighted with coordinating
Fairy Dust Glitter. The edges were inked with Colorbox
Cat's Eye Fluid Chalk Queue in Misty Meadow.
This chipboard element made by
The Dusty Attic was painted with white acrylic paint, inked with Colorbox
Cat's Eye Pigment Ink in Chestnut and spritzed with
Smooch Spritz in Pralines and Cream. I topped it off with a sprinkle of
Fairy Dust Glitter in Pralines and Cream. I always use
Glue Gloss to adhere the glitter. It has become my new best friend. :o)
I added two layers of punch work and hand-stitching to complete the cover of my card.
For the inside of the card, I added several punched borders, stitching, lace and a border from the '
Tags, Ribbons & Mosaics' sheet from the Spring in Bloom Collection. The sentiment was printed onto cardstock, inked with Colorbox
Cat's Eye Pigment Ink in Chestnut and spritzed with
Smooch Spritz in Pralines and Cream.
The title of my card is hand-stitched using a template I created.
Below are a few tips on how to create your own stitching template.
STEP 1: Print out your title on a sturdy sheet of vellum. A bolder font with minimal detail works best for this technique.
STEP 2: Using a craft pick or a needle, punch evenly spaced holes along each letter. The closer the holes, the more defined each letter will be, but be careful not to poke holes too close together. Doing so will cause your paper to tear when stitching.
STEP 3: Position the guide on your project and poke all of the holes.
STEP 4: Once you have completed your title... stitch away!
You can use this technique to create your own stitched flourishes, shapes, simple images etc. Have fun with it!
Thank you for stopping by to take a peek at my card. Have a beautiful day! Supplies Used:
