Almost SOLD OUT!!! & FROM THE HEART

I've decided to let you see a whole card for the Prima Card Buffet. There are a million different combinations for these cards... I lead you in the creative process but encourage everyone to make cards from the heart that represent each person's individual style.

"FROM THE HEART" CHARITY EVENT

As some of you know, I am hosting a charity event at the Red Bee in Tustin, for my friend Priscilla's family. I've known Priscilla since high school. We were cheerleaders together and our husbands played football together. Priscilla was actually the person who invited me to the church where I was led to the Lord and I eventually became a member of the youth staff.

Several months ago her husband, George, went to the hospital because he had been experiencing some strange symptoms. The doctors ran some tests and found out that he had an acute case of leukemia. The next day his brain hemorraged and he went into a coma, a couple days later he passed away. This was such a shock to EVERYONE. George was an elder at their church where he worked full time. Priscilla had been a stay home mom with their 4 children (one who is still in diapers) for over 7 years and they had NO life insurance.

I felt like I HAD to do something for Priscilla and the kids as a tribute to our friendship but also to honor George's memory. When George was in the hospital the halls were so crowded that they gave us a meeting room and eventually had to ask us all to wait in the lobby because there were so many of us that we were blocking the gurneys and the hospital staff. The funeral was a full house with people listening from the foyer and overflowing outside as well. This family gave so much of themselves and I couldn't just shrug my shoulders and walk away without doing something to try to help. Their church is helping her and the kids but I want to give her at least a small sense of independence and a little bit of dignity.

Scrapbook Royalty is helping me plan this event. If you have ever been to one of their events then you know why it is called an event and not a crop. Elena and the girls go ALL OUT! There will be PRIZES GALORE, games, silent auctions, food, a chocolate fountain, and so much more!!!

The crop portion of the event is only $35 (plus everyone attending needs to bring a gift card for at least $10 to one of these places: Trader Joes, Albertsons, Arco, Mobil or 76) PLUS... you can take 3 classes for an additional $20. Less than $7 per class is BEYOND inexpensive... especially since the supplies alone for my Prima class will be more than $15!!! Here is a peek at the layout that Prima is sponsoring:

My sweetie pie friend Stephanie Ackerman is not only going to doodle EVERY person's name who is attending... but she is going to be teaching us all how to doodle for class #3!!! YAY!!! 

I've also heard from my friend Deena Ziegler (who Stephanie introduced me to). Deena works at Ellison/Sizzix and she just let me know that we are getting one of these for a prize:

I also wanted to mention that Everyone working the event is volunteering... so nobody is getting paid to do this event. ALL of the profits from this event will be given to Priscilla in gas and grocery store gift cards. Priscilla will also be attending this event and she will be bringing some family pictures. I will be donating my time for the class I'm teaching AND I am also going to helping her get some pages made for her album... some of the Red Bee Design Team Members will be helping me as well (thank you ladies... you all RAWK!!!)

AND... anyone who registers for the whole event by May 1st will be entered into a drawing for some of my Prima stash... and not the cheap stuff either...

This stash has bottles (that's right bottles with an "s") of Prima flowers, Prima's Say it in Crystals rhinestone swirls, several different Prima papers (including some paintables) a pad of Iron Orchid Designs journaling notes and some of the most beautiful Prima lace that you have ever seen!

Wow, what a wonderful event you have organized and for such a gooooood purpose! My heart goes out to Stephanie, I know that she is surrounded by the love of her church family, that's such a blessing!
