Today's layout is inspired by this beautiful motive that is found in the lotus root. I just love this vegetable :) Let me show you what I have done with it...
Here's a picture of lotus root that has been sliced.
To start, use the lotus root & stamp it on the embossing ink pad. Next pour some embossing powder. Use a heat gun to heat the embossed powder.
Once I am done with the white embossing powder, I tried on the Mix'd Media Ink embossing powder and I was so in awe!
Here's the after effect, look at the colors... beautiful rite?
After that, I did some stamping using the ruler stamp.
Here's the completed layout:
I have been struggling with my weight for a very long time. Last year I managed to loose some but guess what I have gained back by year end. Can I blame the yummy food during the festive season? Hehe. So this 2012, I am determine to work out. Get sweat. And my own little word for 2012 is definitely change. I have to change everything... the way I eat & live. I need to get fitter!

Hello everyone....I can't express how thrilled and honored I am to be Guest Designing for Donna Salazar Designs. I got to work with the beautiful Antiquities papers, Donna's Smooch Spritz, Mixed Media Inx and the awesome Emboss Gloss and Glue Gloss. Just before Christmas, my daughter made a request for an art journal so I started out with this sketch book I bought at Walmart.
I first covered the front and back covers with cardboard and then used Donna's beautiful Antiquities collection. I dyed the seam binding and Prima Lace with Smooch in colors Evergreen and Candle Glow and did some fussy cutting from the papers. and then embellished like crazy. I added lots of Prima Goodies and then inked everything with Mixed Media Ink in Jasmine to give it a worn look...love that stuff. Here are the different views:
The tag was a little message to my daughter and the quotes were cut from the Crafty Chronicle. I am pleased to say Claudine loved her art journal!
I also altered a wooden box I bought at the Dollar store and this is the end result:
I made the brown flowers from the papers. The butterfly was lightly painted in gesso and I then spritzed it with Candle glow. Using Glue Gloss, I applied glue to the edges of the butterfly and used Fairy Dust Glitter in Pralines and Cream. Speaking of Fairy Dust, I also applied it to these two Christmas Centerpieces I made and the shimmer in real life is just BEAUTIFUL!!
Thanks so much for having me Donna...it has definitely been an honor!
For my Storybook Line, I combined both boy and girl themes into one collection. From Pirates to tea parties, this collections works well for any childhood themed layout, birthday card or party theme. This line will be sold as individual papers in the 12x12 size, and it will also come in a 12x12 pad, and a 6x6 pad. PLUS... I've designed several of the papers for my friends who love making double page layouts. The images below are shown with the front of the paper on the left and the back of the paper on the right.
The paper below is "Compatible" with my "Creative Book Pages" die set from Spellbinders Paper Arts as well as their "Labels Twenty One" die set. The back of the page has loads of images (that are the exact same size as the images in the paper line). These are a fussy cutter's dream!
The Storybook Alpha is "Compatible" with my "Donna's Alphas" from Spellbinders Paper Arts and the naked "Compatible" chipboard alphas from GCD Studios. They are perfect for inking, spritzing, glittering, covering with pattern paper and/or you can give 'em a drop shadow... There are so many combinations that you can come up with using the "Compatible" dies, paper and chipboard alphas!!!
All the 6x6 papers are the same except for the 6x6 paper designs shown below.
And here are a couple projects I've made with this line:
I'll be posting more pictures of CHA projects soon!
Cannot wait till all of these products are available!!! What an inspiring release Donna! I know your entire design team are going to have such a great year with such great products!
Before I show the new stamps I have one more product to reveal from GCD Studios!
This paper stack has 20 sheets of 4 different mediums: Kraft Labels, thin Kraft paper, Manilla paper & Watercolor paper. The pad is 8x10 so it fits PERFECTLY on the Spellbinder's Grand Calibur die cutting plates and all of these papers look amazing when embossed with the Spellbinder dies.

Good morning everyone, this is Kim S with you again sharing a step by step to create a gorgeous love themed mini book - just in time for Valentines Day.
Did you know that you can create a minibook from scratch with your favourite Donna Salazar papers and Spellbinder dies? Yup – all you need is paper, dies and embellishments.
You can also die-cut your paper in such a way that you can “bind” your minibook by sewing or stapling the spine.
First you will need to decide on the size of your minibook, I opted for a 6x6” book and first cut a sheet of the Antiquities Theatre paper in half
Now you want to fold the sheet over like this
If you wish for you paper to remain in one piece, you will have to place it onto your chosen die ensuring that the fold does not cover the cutting edge.
If you are worried that the paper may slide a little during the cutting process, you may want to keep it in place by adding a little masking tape over paper and die.
I cut various shapes from a selection of Spellbinders dies and arranged them in a layered fashion on the individual pages.
Additionally I also used the Wonderful Wings dies as stencils placing them onto one of my double pages and spraying over them with various coloured mists, outlining the white spaces when I removed the dies. You can create your won patterned papers like this!
Now you want to “bind” your book and you can either do this by piercing a few holes in the spine of your collected folds and thread some twine or floss through it, or you can use a stapler, as I did:
I started my book by finishing off the cover first – adding the title cut with Donna’s Alphaout of corrugated board and heat embossed. The final touch is the gorgeous butterfly using the Wonderful Wings die and adding a little sparkle with pearls and rhinestones.
I leave you with pictures of the individual pages and hope that you enjoyed today's step by step
Hi everyone! Natasha here with a flower tutorial I created using Donna Salazar's Rose Creations dies. I created this flower for my Dreamer Journal. You can see the original project HERE.
* Quick-Drying glue (I recommend Helmar 450 Quick Dry.)
* Needle-nose pliers
* Ink pad to ink the edges of your layers (optional)
*********************
In the Rose Creations set, there are 6 different sizes of dies. I used the first four sizes (Size 1 to Size 4).
You will need:
(3) layers of Size 1
(3) layers of Size 2
(3) layers of Size 3
(3) layers of Size 4
STEP 1: Using an embossing stylus or the back of a Sharpie marker, rub each petal in a circular motion until the petal starts to form a 'cup' shape. Using the back of a mouse pad or similar surface will make this process easier. Do this for each petal of your first layer.
STEP 2: Then rub the center of the flower (where the hole is) in the same manner. This is what the layer will look like when you are done.
STEP 3: Repeat this process (Steps 1-2) on Layers 2-8 (see photo).
STEP 4: On the remaining layers (Layers 9-12), you will need to do the following... Using needle-nose pliers or tweezers, gently pinch the center of a petal and twist to form a little ripple. It does not matter whether you twist to the left or the right. For further details on how to do this 'single pinch and twist', click HERE.
This is what all of your layers should look like.
STEP 5: Take Layer 1 and apply a little adhesive to the top of the layer. Pinch the layer shut to form a bud.
STEP 6: Take the next layer (Layer 2) and add a dab of glue around the hole in the center. Adhere Layer 1 (the bud) inside of Layer 2.
STEP 7: Continue this process with all of the 'cupped' layers (Layers 1-8). Remember to apply a dab of glue around the center of each layer first. It is best if you try to off-set the petals when adhering each layer together.
STEP 8: Now add Layers 9-12 to the bottom of the flower in the same manner. Be sure to off-set the petals.
And you're done!! You can alter the size or the fullness of the flower by adding more layers. Below are a few examples.
Here I added larger layers to the bottom of the flower.
Hope you enjoyed my tutorial! Thanks for stopping by!
At the beginning of the year I was lucky enough to be selected as a Guest Designer for Donna Salazar Designs and last month I received my two parcels of products from her - one from GCD Studios and one from Clearsnap. Along with these yummy goodies I have used some of my own stash of Donna Salazar products that I had and I created these two layouts:
I have used a Grandma's Garden 12 x 12 paper as my base in conjunction with a brown Bazzil cardstock. On the base paper I have sprayed River Mossy and Caramel Latte Smooch Spritz. These dry really quickly and you can almost continue your layout straight away - if you do not spray to thickly! The fence on my layout is a Dusty Attic one which I covered with emboss gloss then used Mix'd Media Inx Truffle embossing powder and heated it with a heat gun. The fence has then been highlighted with Mix'd Media Inx in Jasmine. This ink is amazing it covers really well!
The backing of the photos is corrugated card. The cut out embellishments are from various Donna Salazar papers -Antiquities, Grandmas Garden, Artistic papers as well as the Crafty Chronicle. The flowers are made using the Rose Creations die, brads and the Crafty Chronicle. These have then been sprayed with River Mossy and Caramel Latte Smooch Spritz. Once the layout was put together I daubed the Mix'd Media Inx in Jasmine all over the page giving it a bit more of a grungy look.
My next layout is a bit softer and is also using a mixture of Donna Salazar products.
The Background paper is from the Antiquities Collection. I have used a brick wall mask and Mix'd Media Inx in Jasmine to add to the background. Then I added a paper doily before layering Artistic and Antiquities papers underneath the photo. The cut out flowers and butterflies are from the Grandma's Garden and Artistic Papers collections. The chipboard swirls are from 2 Crafty and are covered with Mix'd Media Inx in Truffle. To finish the layout off I added some Prima flowers and leaves.
I have another much bigger project I am working on for Donna Salazar so I will be back soon with that.
Cannot wait till all of these products are available!!! What an inspiring release Donna! I know your entire design team are going to have such a great year with such great products!
